Kleine-Scheidegg Hike and Giant Cow Playground
Activity: Kleine-Scheidegg Hike and Cow Playground Gondola Starting Place: Grund (see below for detailed instructions). Cost: 30 CHF for the lift, 17 CHF for the train. Hours: Sunrise to sunset (changes with the seasons).
We took the lift up to Mannlichen. The lift had some sort of affiliation with Ricola so we got free cough drops! When we got out of the lift at Mannlichen we were surprised by this rad play area. True story, one of the things that made Alex most excited about having a child was the ability to play on playgrounds without looking like a total weirdo. The Kleine-Scheidegg was the easiest hike we did in Switzerland and it would be possible to bring a stroller if it has big wheels!
We did a big circle by parking at Grund, taking the gondola from Grund to Mannlichen (30 CHF), hiking from Mannlichen to Kleine-Scheidegg (free!) and taking the mountain train back down to Grund (17 CHF). The whole excursion was a bit pricey for an adult, but it’s free for kids under 6 and 1/2 price for 6-18. Plus with the gondola, the playground, the hike, and the steep mountain train, it’s full of thrills for the whole journey! It’s also possible to get here from Lauterbrunnen, just take the train to Wegen and then the lift to Mannlichen.
