Barcelona With Kids: What to Know Before You Go
Barcelona With Kids
Barcelona is so fantastic with kids. Most of the attractions are outside and there are parks everywhere! We found this one of the easier cities to manage with a toddler. It’s simple to balance a museum with a park and there are a ton of activities that are both kid and parent friendly. People were very kind to our child everywhere we went.
Stroller or Baby Backpack?
We managed with a stroller, though we did carry the stroller up and down a lot of stairs in the metro. There are lots of elevators but they are sometimes out of the way and stinky. We were glad we brought a stroller though because our favorite things to do were strolling in the streets and parks of Barcelona.
Where to Stay:
Barcelona isn’t too expensive, thank goodness! If you can, see if you can work out a home exchange. If not, here are some good Airbnbs that hopefully won’t break the bank! The most central place to stay is somewhere near Placa del Catalunya. The Sagrada Familia and Park Guell are a bit out of the way of the actual city, but it’s easy to take a bus there from Placa del Catalunya.
Book in Advance
Here are the things that require advance booking to avoid lines or selling out. Browse our guides on the activities, decide if your family would be interested, and then book them! A bit of advice: try to avoid booking anything timed for the first few days as you don’t know how jet lag is going to affect your kids and you don’t want to risk missing your reservation.
Books/Movies to Prep For Your Trip
The best movie about Barcelona is The Cheetah Girls. It’s totally cheesy and hilarious but it really shows the city well!
The rest of the movies I found about Barcelona were not for kids. I will keep looking and let me know if you know of any.
